Entry 6: May 27, 2002

Today, we stopped in Milan (the fashion capital of the world) on our way to Como. As you can imagine, we toured both cultural spots as well as stores. =) The third-largest Basilica in the world is found in the town square, an absolutely gorgeous church that took 500 years to build. Several of us got the opportunity to venture onto the roof, a multilayered maze of steps and passages winding to the very top, where there was a statue of Mary four meters high. There were hundreds of steeples adorning the church, and in each were a thousand statues. It was amazing and now it’s Karen and I’s favorite.

The highlight of my day (apart from “el duomo” – the church) was Jacqueline, Jeneka, Kelly and I’s adventure in the rain. Four of us shared one umbrella (moving an inch at a time) trying to stay dry, crossing the empty square and meet our tour guide on time.

It’s a really small world. ‘Tay (Alicia) Le’ , Jill and I ran into a woman from ND at a discreet restaurant in Como, Italy. What are the odds? Well, we’ve got one more game tomorrow night and I’ll write after that … see ya later!
