Tim O’Connor is a 2002 graduate of the University of Notre Dame. As Digital Media Communications Specialist for Fighting Irish Digital Media, Tim assists with digital strategy for the Athletic Department which includes conversation, brainstorming and planning about the future of Athletics online communication. In addition to his strategic role, Tim also leads the Athletics Department social media communications team which focuses on blogging and social media to communicate Notre Dame Athletics messaging.

Since joining the Athletic Department in the fall of 2011, Tim has worked closely with outside partners as FIDM developed WatchND into FIDM’s main web and mobile app video platform. He has also been involved in the development of the department’s Adobe Digital Publishing Suite apps and has helped to set up the Athletics blog network and audio podcasting network.

With a background in graphic design, Tim provides a unique perspective on issues related to branding and visual consistency within the department, and frequently assists other Athletic Department staffers with their specific graphic design needs. His design work is featured on UND.com, Official Athletic Department Social Media Platforms and WatchND.

Originally from upstate New York, Tim graduated from Notre Dame in 2002 with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts, and worked as a graphic designer for the Whirlpool Corporation before joining Notre Dame’s Marketing Communications team as a graphic designer in 2004, eventually working closely with the Marketing Communications Web team as a web designer. Tim has worked on several key university web initiatives including multiple department homepage designs, the design of m.nd.edu, the university’s first homepage optimized for smartphones, and two separate redesigns of the University’s main webpage, ND.edu. He was also involved in the University’s OnMessage branding process, working closely with University team members to help design the onmessage.nd.edu website.

A life-long Notre Dame Football fan, Tim and his wife Elizabeth reside in South Bend with their son.
