Notre Dame Tied for 11th in Sears Directors’ Cup

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The University of Notre Dame standstied for 11th in the latest standings in the Sears Directors’Cup all-sports competition.

Thanks to the Irish women’s soccer team reaching the nationalsemifinals and the men’s cross country team finishing 12th atthe NCAA championship, Notre Dame currently has 80 points, asdo Dartmouth and Old Dominion.

North Carolina (200 points) leads the competition thanks to1997 NCAA titles in women’s soccer and field hockey, whileStanford (190 points) is second after winning the NCAA men’scross country title, taking second in women’s cross country andfinishing 17th in men’s soccer.

The current standings include results from NCAA competition inmen’s water polo, field hockey, men’s and women’s crosscountry and men’s and women’s soccer.

In the four previous years in which the Sears Directors’ Cupcompetition has been held, Notre Dame has finished 11th in1993-94, 30th in 1994-95, 11th in 1995-96 and 14th in 1996-97.
