Brent Moberg, Director of Compliance for three years at Northern Illinois University and a 2000 University of Notre Dame graduate, was named Director of Compliance for the Notre Dame athletics department in July 2009. He is part of Notre Dame’s athletics compliance team that works to ensure compliance with NCAA and conference rules.
Moberg’s background includes experiences as a compliance intern at Marquette University (2004-05), a legal intern for the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater athletic director’s office (fall 2002), a stadium naming rights and sponsorship intern with The Leib Group, LLC in Mequon, Wis. (2004), and an intercollegiate athletics consultant for Carr Sports Associates, Inc. in Gainesville, Fla. (2009-2011). During the spring of 2009, Moberg served as an adjunct professor of sport management at Northern Illinois, teaching a graduate course in sport finance.
After graduating from Notre Dame with a Bachelor of arts degree, majoring in pre-professional studies, anthropology, and theology, Moberg spent a year in medical school at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Ill. He went on to earn both a law degree and a Master of business administration degree in Sports Business from Marquette in 2004. Moberg received a Sports Law Certificate from the National Sports Law Institute of Marquette University Law School in Milwaukee, Wis. (2004) and is a member of the bar in the state of Wisconsin.
In April 2010, Moberg served as a panelist on the “Current Issues in Sports Law” roundtable at the “A Mirror of Our Culture: Sport and Society in America” conference hosted by St. Norbert College and the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field and in October 2011, also served as moderator of the “Hot Topics In Collegiate Athletics” panel at the National Sports Law Institute’s “Hot Topics in Sports Law & Business” conference in Milwaukee, Wis.
Moberg currently serves as the Treasurer of the Sports & Entertainment Law Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin and as a consultant for Carr Sports Consulting, LLC.
