Stephanie Fischer joined the Notre Dame sports information staff in 2008, serving as the primary media contact for the Irish men’s and women’s cross country/track & field and women’s tennis programs. She also is co-editor of the Notre Dame football game program, sharing that responsibility with assistant athletics director/sports information director Bernadette Cafarelli.

Fischer came to Notre Dame after a two-year stint as a graduate assistant with the sports information department at Arkansas State University. Fischer comes to the Irish from Arkansas State University where she completed her undergraduate degree and began work on a graduate degree in just three-and-a-half years. She spent her final three years at ASU as both a student and graduate assistant in the school’s sports information office. Fischer graduated from ASU with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and an emphasis in photojournalism. She currently is working towards her master’s degree in mass communications with a major in journalism.

While at Arkansas State, Fischer handled the media relations for the school’s volleyball, women’s soccer, golf, baseball, bowling, tennis, and men’s and women’s track & field programs, while also assisting with coverage of the ASU football and men’s and women’s basketball teams.

A native of Stuttgart, Ark., Fischer also has worked in newspapers, serving as a sports assistant at the Jonesboro Sun covering baseball. From August-December 2006, she was the news editor of the Arkansas State University Herald. From January-May 2006, she served as the newspaper’s photo editor.
