Tom Blicher is in his sixth year as the General Manager at the Joyce Center and Purcell Pavilion after being promoted in May 2010 following ten years as the Operations Manager. He was named General Manager following the retirement of longtime Assistant Athletics Director Brian Boulac in August, 2009. Prior to his stint as Operations Manager, Blicher spent 11 years as the Senior Sound Technician for the Notre Dame Athletics Department.

As General Manager, Blicher oversees the Technical Services Department, as well as the Operations, Maintenance and set-up staff, the Receiving Clerk, Housekeeping, and the Athletics’ Usher program. During his tenure in the Technical Services Department, Blicher helped design and install sound systems throughout the athletic department. These projects included the Joyce Center Arena and Fieldhouse, Monogram Room, Rolfs Aquatic Center, Rolfs Sports Recreation Center (RecSports), Eck Baseball Stadium and the 1997 renovation of Notre Dame Stadium.

Previously, Blicher had worked with the stagehands local in the Joyce Center on many visiting entertainment acts. Some of these performances included Elvis Presley, John Denver, Neil Diamond, Petula Clark, Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra. Bill Cosby, The Eagles, The Jackson Five, Kenny Rogers, KISS, Ice Capades and Disney on Ice. Born March 22, 1950, in Jackson, Mich., Blicher is married to the former Cynthia Freeman of Union Mills, Ind. She is a graduate of Purdue University and IUSB with a master’s degree in elementary education. The couple have two daughters, LeeAndra (Purdue 2002) and Ashlee (IUSB 2007) and three grandchildren, Logan, Eliana and Nathan.
