Statement from Notre Dame director of athletics Kevin White:

“We’ve been privileged to be part of the BIG EAST Conference since 1995 – and we’re now in a position to stay the course as the league goes through a realignment process for a rebuilt BIG EAST.

It’s been a complicated summer for everyone in college athletics and particularly for the BIG EAST, and today’s announcement represents a resolution and a plan to move forward for all those associated with the conference.

“With that said, it will continue to be important for everyone to monitor the ever-changing intercollegiate athletics landscape.”
