Aug. 22, 2002

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame Coaches’ Car Wash, scheduled to take place today (Thursday, Aug. 22), has been postponed because of inclement weather in the Michiana area. The event has been rescheduled for Thursday, Aug. 29 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. EST on the Gold Field parking lots just west of Eck Baseball Stadium (enter off Edison Road).

Many of Notre Dame’s coaches, their staffs and members of the athletic administration will take part in the event, which helps the University’s fund-raising efforts for United Way. Irish women’s basketball coach Muffet McGraw, baseball coach Paul Mainieri and director of recservices & fitness Sally Derengoski are coordinating the event.

There is a $5.00 donation to have your car washed — and the public is invited.

The Coaches’ Car Wash is one of a number of United Way fund-raisers and events planned by various campus units for the next several months. The University of Notre Dame is the largest contributor to the United Way of St. Joseph County.

There are 33 agencies, and 87 programs, in St. Joseph County receiving United Way funding. Notre Dame employees may give to the general fund or name a specific agency they wish to support.
