Notre Dame Athletics Announces New Hires
Nine new employees join athletic department staff.

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame has announced the hiring of thefollowing new employees in the athletic department:

David Brown, a 1971 graduate of Slippery Rock University, hasbeen named club sports coordinator. The Carey, Ohio, native wasan associate professor of physical education at the U.S. NavalAcademy since 1986. Brown, who earned a master’s degree inphysical education at Bowie State University in 1980, will workwith all of Notre Dame’s 23 club sports in addition to managingthe campus beach at St. Joseph’s Lake.

Jannifer Crittendon, a 1989 graduate of Indiana University-SouthBend, has been named life skills coordinator. The South Bend,Ind., native comes to the athletic department from the College ofBusiness Administration at Notre Dame where she served asdirector of diversity program since 1995. Crittendon, who earneda master’s degree in public affairs from Indiana University-SouthBend in 1995, will direct all of Notre Dame’s student-athletes inacademic, athletic, service, career and personal development aswell as providing access to other campus resources.

Monica Cundiff, a 1992 graduate of the University of Illinois,has been named sports marketing coordinator. The East Peoria,Ill., native had served as promotions assistant at Notre Damesince 1997. Cundiff, who earned a master’s in sportadministration at Illinois State University in 1996, willcoordinate marketing and promotional efforts for Notre Dame’sathletic department.

Peggy Curtin, a 1998 graduate of California Polytechnic StateUniversity in San Luis Obispo, has been named publicity assistantin the sports information office. The Chula Vista, Calif.,native was a student assistant in the Cal Poly SLO sportsinformation office as an undergraduate. Curtin will work closelywith the volleyball, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s andwomen’s swimming and diving, men’s and women’s track and field,and softball teams as well as assisting with publicity for all ofNotre Dame’s 26 sports.

David Gilbert, a 1997 graduate of Lake Superior State University,has been named assistant equipment manager and will work closelywith the Irish hockey team. The Marquette, Mich., native was headathletic equipment manager at Lake Superior State since 1997 andbrings five years of experience as both a player and equipmentmanager in the CCHA to Notre Dame. Gilbert will be in charge ofpurchases, inventory and maintenance of the hockey equipment aswell as coordinating hockey travel plans.

David Key, 1995 graduate of the University Texas at El Paso, hasbeen named assistant athletic trainer. The Austin, Texas, nativehad served as resident athletic trainer at Notre Dame since 1997.Key, who earned a master’s degree in sports administration at theUniversity of New Mexico in 1997, will work closely with thewomen’s tennis, women’s swimming and diving and women’s rowingteams in addition to assisting with all of Notre Dame’s 26sports.

Heather Mason, a 1995 graduate of the University of Cincinnati,has been named assistant strength and conditioning coach. ThePortsmouth, Ohio, native had served as an assistant strength andconditioning coach at Cincinnati since 1996. Mason, who earned amaster’s degree in sports administration from Xavier Universityin 1998, will work closely with the volleyball, women’s lacrosse,softball, men’s and women’s tennis and women’s rowing teams, inaddition to assisting with all of Notre Dame’s 26 sports.

Eric Wachter, a 1996 graduate of the University of Notre Dame,has been named sports information assistant. The Repaupo, N.J.,native had served as publicity assistant in the sportsinformation office since 1996. Wachter will work closely withthe women’s soccer, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’sfencing and women’s lacrosse teams as well as assisting withpublicity for all of Notre Dame’s 26 sports.

Marah Wich, a 1997 graduate of the University of Notre Dame, hasbeen named assistant ticket manager. The Upland, Calif. native,had served as business office intern since 1997. Wich will bethe systems administrator for the Paciolan ticketing system andwill supervise the daily operations of the ticket office and thecustomer service representatives.
