Notre Dame Holds Annual President’s Award And Service Recognition Dinner
Joyce Center general manager David Woods one of seven to receive President’s Award.

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Joyce Center general manager David Woods received a President’s Award and 19 other current and former athletic department employees received service awards Monday night at the University of Notre Dame’s annual President’s Award and Service Recognition Dinner at the North Dining Hall.

Woods received one of seven prestigious President’s Awards from University president Rev. Edward A. Malloy, C.S.C. He has spent the last two years as the Joyce Center general manager following 10 years as director of the University’s support services department. A member of the Notre Dame community since 1985, he previously was chairman of the aerospace studies department in the Notre Dame Air Force ROTC department.

The following athletic department staff members also were honored:

Assistant athletic director and former assistant football coach Brian M. Boulac and associate athletic trainer John M. Whitmer for 30 years of service to the University.Men’s and women’s track and field coach Joseph P. Piane and Joyce Center crew leader Clifford J. Payne for 25 years of service.Ticket office customer service representative Martha Anton, Joyce Center maintenance assistant Olay Malaythong, assistant athletic trainer William F. “Skip” Meyer, Joyce Center crowd control supervisor James J. Murphy, athletic groundskeeper Richard L. Reppert, Joyce Center staffer Robert J. Waddick and Joyce Center graphic artist Laurie A. Wenger for 20 years of service.Associate athletic director Lawrence “Bubba” Cunningham, Joyce Center staffer Debra M. Gatlin, Rolfs Sports Recreation Center staffer Terrance M. Hardy, Joyce Center maintenance assistant Christian F. Horvath, coordinator of NCAA compliance Mary M. Pantzer and athletic grounds technician Jerome Whitaker for 15 years of service.

Also honored as members of the University’s 40 Year Club (for 40 or more years of service to the University) were retired assistant ticket manager Leonard Kahler and retired associate athletic director and business manager Joseph F. O’Brien.
