The Notre Dame women’s soccer team’s game on Sunday, Oct. 9, vs. Seton Hall has been shifted from the SHU campus to Lubetkin Field on the campus of the New Jersey Institute of Technology (154 Summit Street, in Newark), with the start time pushed back from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. EDT. Seton Hall’s soccer facility, Carroll Field, was deemed unplayable due to extreme rainfall during the past few days (Lubetkin Field features a turf playing surface). It is not known at this time if the SHU student radio station still will provide a live-audio broadcast of the game (see www.shupirates.com for link).

The Notre Dame men’s soccer team faced the same shift of venue at Seton Hall, nearly a year ago to the day (the Irish men won that game vs. SHU at NJIT, 1-0 on Oct. 20, 2004).

Sunday’s late start will force the Notre Dame contingent to spend another night in New Jersey, before departing early Monday morning. The Irish players will head directly to their Monday classes and will return to pratice on Tuesday in preparation for the four home games that will end the regular season – with the biggest game set for Alumni Field on Friday, Oct. 14 (7:30 EST, following the ND football pep rally), vs. BIG EAST rival Connecticut.

The Notre Dame women also have a minor time shift for next Sunday’s home game versus Providence, with that game slated to start at noon EST rather than the original 1:00 in order to accomodate Providence’s travel plans.
