THE BELLARMINE SERIES

• Saturday will be the sixth meeting all time between Notre Dame and Bellarmine.

• The Irish hold a commanding 5-0 lead in the series, including a mark of 3-0 when playing at home.

• The most recent matchup in the series came in 2016, with Notre Dame winning 11-6 at home. Eddy Lubowicki led the Irish with four goals in the victory.

CORRIGAN REACHES HISTORIC MILESTONE

• Baumer Family Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach Kevin Corrigan became just the third coach in NCAA Division I men’s lacrosse history to reach the 300-win mark at a single school with the win over Marquette on April 10, 2019.

• Corrigan is one of just four active Division I coaches to reach the 300-win mark in his career.

• Corrigan has an overall record of 316-164 in his 34 seasons of coaching.

• The head coach is 306-149 in his 33 seasons at Notre Dame.

• Corrigan is the longest tenured men’s lacrosse coach at the DI level.

KAVANAGH’S HISTORIC PERFORMANCE

• Pat Kavanagh couldn’t have started his sophomore season any better, totaling nine points (2G, 7A) in the win over RMU.

• Kavanagh became just the second player in program history to dish out seven assists in a game, joining John Olmstead who accomplished the feat on April 21, 1988 in a win over Wittenberg.

• The sophomore also recorded the 10th game in program history with nine points, tying the program record, and was the first to do it since his older brother Matt Kavanagh had nine points (3G, 6A) in the win over Syracuse in 2016.

• Kavanagh was named to the USILA Team of the Week after his impressive performance.

DOMINATING DEFENSIVE DISPLAY

• The Irish defense entered the 2021 season heralded as one of the best units in the country and it lived up to expectations in the opener against Robert Morris.

• Notre Dame held the Colonials to just seven goals on the day, their fewest of the season.

• In the four other games Robert Morris has played, it has averaged 15.3 goals per game and has scored at least 12 goals in all four.

• Over the 60 minutes of play, the Irish allowed RMU to take just 31 shots in the game while only 21 were on goal, both season lows for the Colonials.

BALANCED ATTACK

• Notre Dame got contributions in the attack from many different places in the opener, as 13 players scored at least one goal and 15 players recorded at least one point.

• Kavanagh’s nine points led the team and Quinn McCahon paced the Irish in goals, scoring three to record the first hat trick of his career.

• 17 of the 19 goals scored came off an assist.

• The 19 goals are the most the Irish have scored in a game since the 2019 season opener against Detroit Mercy.

• Six Irish players scored their first goal in a Notre Dame uniform in the win (Will Yorke, Eric Dobson, David Lipka, Sean Leahey, Nick Harris and Bryce Walker).

IRISH X-MEN

Notre Dame rotated FOGOs throughout the game against Robert Morris and finished 23-of-30 at the X while FOGOs scooped up 17 GBs.

• Kyle Gallagher and Charlie Leonard took the lion’s share, as Gallagher finished 13-of-15 with 11 GBs and Leonard went 9-for-12 with six GBs.

• Gallagher also added two assists coming directly from faceoff wins.

CHALLENGING SLATE AHEAD

• Notre Dame has never shied away from putting together a challenging schedule and the 2021 slate, despite having a number of changes from a normal season’s schedule, is no different.

• Of Notre Dame’s 10 regular-season opponents, six are currently ranked in the top 10 in either the USILA or Inside Lacrosse Top 20 Polls.

• The Irish have three matchups on the schedule against teams currently ranked in the top three in the polls.
