Frilling Wins Singles Title at Fall Gator Classic

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Freshman Kristy Frilling knocked off Florida’s Anastasia Revzina, 6-4, 3-6, 1-0, in the finals of the Fall Gator Classic Sunday to win her first collegiate singles title.

Frilling defeated Florida’s Marrit Boonstra, 6-2, 6-3, in the semifinals to seal her spot in the final match.

Frilling teamed up with Irish senior Kelcy Tefft to win the doubles title, as well.

The Irish duo knocked off Kentucky’s Carolina Escamilla and Christine Johnson, 8-2, in the final match.

In other singles action, Tefft defeated Central Florida’s Katie Orletsky, 6-2, 6-2, and sophomore Kristen Rafael beat South Florida’s Iciri Rai, 2-6, 6-1, 1-0 on Sunday.

The Irish combined for a 6-2 singles record for the weekend. Tefft and Frilling went 4-0 in doubles action.

Notre Dame will compete at the All American tournament in Pacific Palisades, Calif. Oct. 2-6.
