NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Due to unseasonably cold weather in the South Bend area, Friday night’s Atlantic Coast Conference series opener between the University of Notre Dame and the Virginia Cavaliers has been postponed.A doubleheader beginning at 1:05 p.m. (ET) Saturday at Frank Eck Stadium will kick off the series.The finale is set for 1:05 p.m. (ET) Sunday.

The Irish (16-7, 3-6 ACC) and the Cavaliers (15-8, 3-6 ACC) have never met on the baseball diamond.

UVA, ranked between No. 12 and No. 25 in all six major college baseball polls, is led by Brian O’Connor, who coached at Notre Dame for nine years (1995-2003) under former Irish head coach Paul Mainieri. O’Connor played a key role in a Notre Dame program that won six conference championships, made six NCAA Tournament berths and advanced to the 2002 College World Series during his timeunder the Golden Dome.

Tickets are still available for the ACC series and can be purchased by calling the Murnane Family Ticket Office at 574-631-7356 or stopping by the Frank Eck Stadium ticket window prior to the game.
