Notre Dame, Ind. – The Central Collegiate Hockey Association has selected Notre Dame freshman right winger Rob Globke (West Bloomfield, Mich.) as its Rookie of the Week for the week ending October 22nd.

Globke scored two goals and added an assist in leading the Fighting Irish to a 2-1 record last week. The two wins improved Notre Dame to 2-3-1 on the season as they prepare for Michigan State this weekend at the Joyce Center.

Globke, who is tied for second in team scoring with three goals and two assists, currently has a four-game scoring streak (2-2-4).

The former member of the USA Hockey National Development Program, Globke started his week by scoring the first goal of the game in Notre Dame’s 2-1 overtime win versus Wayne State on October 17th.

On Friday, October 20th, the 18-year old forward set up Connor Dunlop’s game tying goal at 8:35 of the second period in a game that saw Notre Dame score five times in the period to wipe out a 2-0 first period lead for Northeastern. The Irish went on to win this game by a 6-4 score.

The following night, Globke got his third goal of the season which cut Northeastern’s lead to 3-2 in the game. For the second night in a row, Notre Dame fell behind 2-0 after one period, then rallied to tie the game at 3-3. This time though, Northeastern prevailed, 5-3.

Globke and the Irish return to action this Thursday and Friday, October 26-27 when they play host to Michigan State in ND’s CCHA opener. Notre Dame is 2-3-1 on the year while Michigan State is 2-1-1 overall and 1-1-0 in league play. Game time both nights is 7:05 p.m.
