INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Notre Dame freshman diver Heather Mattingly, coming off a runner-up finish in the three-meter event at the BIG EAST Championship, finished second at the NCAA Zone C diving meet in Indianapolis Friday night to become the first Notre Dame diver to ever qualify for the NCAA swimming and diving championship. She will join seven Irish swimmers at the national championship meet. Irish junior Gina Ketelhohn placed 15th with a score of 385.30, while sophomore Jessica Johnstone finished 28th with 197.40.

Mattingly finished with a score of 484.95, behind Cinncinati’s Angie Trostel, who won with a score of 510.95. Indiana’s Erin Quinn was third with 481.25 while Minnesota’s T.D. Rowe was fourth with 477.90. The one-meter competition will be held on Saturday.
