Notre Dame Women’s Tennis earned its first individual victories of 2019’s fall campaigns when they opened the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Freshman Page Freeman earned her first individual victory in an Irish uniform by defeating Yale’s Caroline Dunleavy, 6-2, 7-6. On the doubles side, Julia Lilien and Bess Waldram downed Charlotte’s Pierina Imparato and Jenna Dean, 6-3, for their first win.
In singles action, Cameron Corse fell to Yale’s Samantha Martinelli, 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 and Jessie Gong of Yale defeated Bess Waldram, 6-0, 1-6, 6-3. In the day’s other doubles match featuring an Irish duo, Cameron Corse and Page Freeman fell to Rocio Safont and Margaux Maquet of Charlotte, 6-1.
At the Marliss Gruver Fall Invitational in Auburn, Alabama, Ally Bojczuk defeated Wisconsin’s Tudor, 6-3, 6-2, in the consolation quarterfinal match. In the Flight C singles match, Maeve Koscielski defeated Ole Miss’ Jones, 6-3, 6-4.
The Irish continue play Saturday and Sunday at both the Wolverine Invitational and the Auburn Invitational.
