NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Freshman Frank Dyer was named the Counsilman-Hunsaker National Collegiate Swimmer of the Week, as announced Wednesday by CollegeSwimming.com. The award came on the heels of Dyer also earning the nod as BIG EAST Conference Swimmer of the Week. Dyer, a native of Loudonville, N.Y., was selected as the top Division I men’s swimmer by a pool of coaches and media personnel.

Dyer brought home five first-place honors, including three individual wins at Northwestern (Jan. 12) to help Notre Dame earn a pair of dual meet wins.

Against the Wildcats, Dyer swam the 200 free (1:39.75), 100 free (45.76) and the 500 free (4:27.94 – NCAA B-cut) for first-place showings. He also assisted in two winning relays Jan. 14 as Notre Dame defeated Cleveland State, 162-81. Dyer was the anchor in both the 400 medley relay (3:24.13) and the 400 free relay (3:04.56).

The Irish will be in action at the Rolfs Aquatic Center this weekend (Jan. 28-29) while playing host to the Shamrock Invitational.
