Four Irish Earn All-ACC Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – As announced on Tuesday afternoon by the conference, four Irish have earned All-ACC honors.

Kasey Choma, Madison Ahern, Bridget Deehan, and Grace Weigand, all earned All-ACC honors with Choma being named to the All-ACC First Team, Ahern and Deehan named to the All-ACC Second Team, and Weigand named to the ACC All-Freshman team.

Choma finished the regular season leading the Irish with 51 goals, 28 draw controls and 13 caused turnovers. She was also named an Inside Lacrosse/IL Women Midseason All-American on March 31,2022. Choma reached her 100th career point in just her junior season when the Irish took home a 20-5 win over Jacksonville.

Ahern reached her 100th career point in the win over Virginia. Ahern is second on the Irish squad so far in the 2022 season with 51 goals. She tied her career high with six goals against Syracuse on February 26, and again against Jacksonville on March 13. Ahern was also named a Midseason All-American by Inside Lacrosse/IL Women.

Deehan in her fifth year has notched 156 saves. She has recorded a .452 save percentage and is second in the ACC in save percentage. She is also second in the ACC in saves per game with 8.75. Deehan earned ACC Player of the Week honors on March 8, 2022 after recording 16 saves against Virginia, nine of which came in the first half to preserve an Irish lead.

Weigand was named to the ACC All-Freshman team after appearing in 15 games and  starting in six this season and recording 10 draw controls, six caused turnovers, and two assists. 

The Irish now prepare for the ACC Tournament when they take on the Duke Blue Devils. The game is set for 2:30 pm on April 29, with the contest being aired on the ACC Network and live stats being available. The ACC tournament will be hosted at Arlotta Stadium in South Bend on April 27, April 29, and May 1.
