NOTRE DAME, Ind. – A two-day road swing awaits the University of Notre Dame softball team this weekend as the squad travels to St. John’s (April 5) and Seton Hall (April 6) for a pair of BIG EAST Conference doubleheaders.

Entering Saturday’s game against the Red Storm, Notre Dame carries an 18-10 overall record with an even 1-1 mark in conference play after splitting two games at DePaul last weekend. St. John’s (15-19 overall, 2-4 BIG EAST) has posted wins over Long Beach State and Cal State Northridge, two common opponents shared between the Red Storm and Irish this season.

Seton Hall (11-8 overall, 0-6 BIG EAST) has dropped each of its last three league series as the Pirates were tagged with two losses by St. John’s, Louisville, and South Florida. Four SHU batters are carrying clips of .300 or better, with Kealan Waldron and Jenna Best sharing team-high honors with 16 RBI each.

Freshman pitcher Jody Valdivia, who won the league’s pitcher-of-the-week award on Monday, will share action in the circle this weekend with Brittney Bargar. Bargar ranks 10th nationally with her 0.77 ERA. The duo has combined to post a 1.27 ERA that puts Notre Dame in the No. 14 spot among teams across the nation in that category.

For the first time this season, Notre Dame received votes (2) in the latest USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 Poll.
