NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The Atlantic Coast Conference announced on Tuesday that senior attack Cortney Fortunato has been named ACC Offensive Player of the Week, marking the first such honor of the season and the fifth of her career.

Fortunato’s 17 points, 13 goals and four assists over the weekend led the No. 8 University of Notre Dame women’s lacrosse team to wins on back-to-back days against Liberty and Detroit Mercy. Fortunato scored seven goals in her team’s 18-2 win over Liberty on Friday, with all seven coming during a 15-0 run by the Irish. She contributed a career-high 10 points with six goals in Notre Dame’s 24-9 victory versus the Titans on Saturday.

The Northport, New York, native has collected a hat trick three times in as many games this season. In her career, Fortunato owns 34 hat tricks, guiding the Irish to a 28-6 record in those games.

Fortunato, who competed as a member of the U.S. Lacrosse’s World Cup Training Team this past winter, is a two-time Tewaaraton Trophy nominee and a three-time All-American. She has led the team in points, goals and assists in each of the last three seasons. Fortunato’s 182 career goals rank second in program history behind Jillian Byers (262).

Catch Fortunato and the Irish take on Marquette at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Loftus Sports Center. The game will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra/WatchESPN.
