Former Notre Dame soccer All-Americans Jen Grubb and Anne Makinen will be on hand to sign autographs at Notre Dame’s 2002 home opener versus Virginia Tech (Sunday, Sept. 1, with kickoff slated for 1:00 p.m.).

Grubb and Makinen joined former Irish forward Monica Gerardo as key contributors for the 2002 Washington Freedom squad that advanced to the Women’s United Soccer Association championship game. Grubb was the solo captain for the Freedom in 2002 and is one of just two WUSA players who have logged every minute for her team during the league’s first two seasons.

Grubb was a rare four-year All-American as a top defender with the Irish while Makinen made a name for herself as an elite midfielder and became the Notre Dame’s women’s soccer program’s third four-year All-American, also earning 2000 national player-of-the-year honors.
