NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Notre Dame tight end and 2000 football captain Dan O’Leary Monday night received the Chuck Heaton Hometown College Award at the Cleveland (Ohio) Touchdown Club’s annual football awards banquet.

The award is named after Heaton, a long-time college sportswriter for the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

O’Leary, from Westlake, Ohio, is a former Parade prep All-American from St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland. He’s a two-time former all-state pick.

With the Irish, he started 16 career games at tight end, catching 32 passes for 383 yards and four touchdowns. He played in the Hula Bowl last month following the conclusion of his collegiate career.
