Football Practice Update - Sunday, Aug. 9

Aug. 9, 2009

With turf-surface temperatures at the LaBar Practice Complex reaching over 100 degrees, the University of Notre Dame Football Team took the field for its second preseason workout of 2009 on Sunday, Aug. 9.

Only a consistent breeze kept it somewhat bearable on the FieldTurf practice fields today. Even the und.com video crew cameras suffered – as the high humidity levels played havoc with the camera lenses and video tapes.

Not to worry, we did make adjustments enough to nab some footage of the offensive linemen working out today. Our in-depth look at the group, which will provide fans with up close looks at each key player on the roster, will be pushed back to Monday, Aug. 10.

Our two interviews today are from two of the more interesting comeback stories of the season for the Irish. We sat down with senior Mike Anello, the outstanding kick/punt team gunner to check on his recovery from a broken leg suffered during the USC game (when he was, of course, making another special teams tackle). We also caught up with senior quarterback Evan Sharpley, just back from tearing up the Arizona Rookie League with a 44 hits in 37 games played.
