NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Notre Dame returns to the practice field today to focus on this weekend’s upcoming battle against Stanford.

After practice on Thursday, Bob Davie gave the team the weekend off. The Irish had study hall on Sunday night. The quarterbacks got a little extra time to study the offense on Friday with the help of offensive coordinator Kevin Rogers.

LoVecchio In The Lead Freshman Matt LoVecchio retained his lead on the depth chart. Davie again voiced his pleasure with the freshman’s progress. Although, he has not firmly commented on who will be the starter against Stanford.

LoVecchio’s mobility and grasp of the offensive scheme are what separates him from the pack.

Davie said it could be left to a “game time” decision. Also in the hunt for the starting quarterback position are sophomore Gary Godsey as well as freshmen Jared Clark and Carlyle Holiday.

AP Poll Welcomes Back Irish The Irish bounced back into one of the polls after this weekend’s numerous upsets. Notre Dame is currently ranked 25th in the Associated Press poll. However, the Irish still remain out of the ESPN/USA Today poll. In fact, the Irish received only 42 votes and are hovering around the 30th spot.
