2005 NOTRE DAME WOMEN’S SOCCER – at Rutgers and Seton Hall (Oct. 7, 7:00 EDT and Oct. 9; 1:00 EDT)

The Notre Dame women’s soccer team (10-2-0, 5-1-0 BIG EAST) – ranked as high as 7th in the national polls – completes its five-game road stretch this weekend at Rutgers (Oct. 7; 7:30 EDT) and Seton Hall (Oct. 9; 1:00 EDT) … ND has totaled 53 goals while allowing just 54 opponent shots and 30 opponent shots on goal … the Irish just completed playing the BIG EAST’s five newcomers to open the conference schedule, posting shutout wins over DePaul (6-0), Cincinnati (4-0) and Louisville (3-0) before losing at #15 Marquette (1-4) and winning at South Florida (4-00 … the loss at Marquette was a rarity, as the Irish scored first but did not close the win (ND is 54-2-0 in its past 56 games when scoring first) … the Irish lead the nation in scoring with 53 goals and 4.67 goals/gm, paced by the nation’s top scoring tandem of senior Katie Thorlakson (11G-14A) and freshman Kerri Hanks (16G-7A) … ND also ranks 2nd nationally with a +3.7 average scoring margin (53-9/+44, in 12 GP) … the DePaul game was the 400th in the 17-year history of ND women’s soccer (the Irish program has won nearly 83% of its all-time games, at 329-59-17).
