Fisher & Hurm Earn All-ACC Accolades

ACC Release

NOTRE DAME, Indiana — University of Notre Dame women’s soccer student-athletes Eva Hurm and Sammie Fisher were both named to the third team All-ACC, the conference announced Thursday afternoon. Both Hurm and Fisher have had career years for the Irish during the 2019 season, leading the team in a number of categories.

A junior from Simi Valley, California, Fisher earned one of the three captains spots before the 2019 season and is the lone junior captain for the Irish. Playing between midfield and forward, Fisher has thrived leading the Irish attack this season. She has started every game and leads the team in goals (6), points (16) and tied for the team lead in assists (4) and all three are career-high marks.

Fisher scored the first goal of the season from the spot in the 77th minute in the season-opening 1-0 win over Saint Louis on August 22. She had a career night on Oct. 10 against Miami, tallying three goals for her first career hat trick and the first Irish hat trick since Cari Roccaro in 2013. Fisher scored all three goals in the second half (a span of 11:58 minutes of game action) to tie the Notre Dame record for most goals in a half. Melissa Henderson was the last Irish athlete to score three goals in a half back in 2011.

Hurm is also a junior hailing from Upper Saddle River, New Jersey and she has led the Irish forwards with 17 starts this season. Hurm was second on the squad with career-highs in goals (5), points (13) while leading the team in game-winning goals (3). She tallied her second career brace in the 4-0 win over Northwestern with her first goal coming straight from the corner kick. She also scored the only goal in the 1-0 road win over Oakland and the first goal in the 3-0 win over Syracuse.
