Notre Dame head coach Jay Louderback

On the match . . .
“They played really well today, especially for not having played in over three weeks, since the BIG EAST Championships. We played really well in doubles. Their (Eastern Michigan) No. 1 team is really good, they’ve had some good wins this year and they are solid. We just came out and played well at all three spots.”

On playing in the NCAA Tournament . .
. “The big thing for us is the experience we have. We have a lot of older kids who are playing in their third or fourth NCAA Championship. They’ve been through a lot and I think that’s going to help us. We talked today about starting a run in the tournament. No matter who we play, we’re not going to take them lightly.”

On Notre Dame’s #13 seeding . . .
“Our being seeded 13th didn’t go over very well with our players. I think they’re on a mission. It’s pretty big as motivation right now. I think we were focused anyway and we wanted to do well, but the seeding has added to that a little. The players felt they didn’t get much respect for the year they had.”

Notre Dame junior Lindsey Green

On the match . . .
“We’re pretty focused. We’re motivated for the (NCAA) tournament. We feel like we’ve got a chance to do really well so everyone is concentrating really hard and getting down to business. We want this really bad. It’s not fun and games out here, we’re pretty serious.”

On her victory . . .
“I played really well today and I think the whole team did. It felt good today. It was a good confidence-builder for tomorrow. It felt good to get out there and win.”

Eastern Michigan head coach Dave Farmer

On the doubles matches . . .
“They were on fire and we’ve struggled lately. They dominated the net and did what you’re supposed to do. They played very aggressively and we didn’t match them.”

On the singles matches . . .
“I thought they (Notre Dame) would probably win at No. 5 and No. 6. I was a little disappointed losing at No. 4, but she (Notre Dame’s Caylan Leslie) was just on fire. Amalia (Lincaru) tried to match her, but she just couldn’t handle the pace. Notre Dame is a good team. They’re a deep, solid team.”
