The Irish will open the Hockey East playoffs with a single-elimination, first round game on Saturday, March 8 at 7:05 p.m. against an opponent yet to be determined.  Tickets are now on sale for this important playoff game.

Notre Dame, Ind. – Tickets for Notre Dame’s first round Hockey East playoff game are on sale now at the Murnane Family Ticket office, online at UND.com/tickets or via the phone at 574-631-7356.

The single-game, first-round contest will be played at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday, March 8 at the Compton Family Ice Arena against an undetermined opponent. The winner moves on to the Hockey East Quarterfinals round that is a best-of-three series that will be played March 14-16 at one of the top four seeds in the conference.

Notre Dame season ticket holders already have their playoff tickets, as they were included in their season ticket package. Season ticket holders should use the ticket marked – “Hockey East – Game 1.”

The Irish are currently 19-11-2 overall and 8-9-2 in Hockey East, good for 18 points and a tie for seventh in the Hockey East standings with Vermont. Notre Dame can finish as high as sixth and as low as eighth in the playoff race, depending on what happens in the final weekend of the regular season. The Irish have just one game left on the regular-season schedule and that is at 4:00 p.m. on Sat., March 1 at top-ranked Boston College.

Vermont has two games remaining at home against second-place UMass-Lowell. New Hampshire and Providence are tied for fifth with 20 points. UNH has a pair of games at Merrimack and Providence is playing two at Maine.

The tiebreakers are:
1. Head-to-head2. Number of wins in conference play3. Best record against team in first, then second, then third, and so on.4. Coin flip

In head-to head games, Notre Dame is 0-2 against New Hampshire, 1-0-1 versus Providence and 1-1 versus Vermont.
