NOTRE DAME, Ind. – University of Notre Dame’s Mikey Wynne (Fr./A) and Matt Landis (Jr./D) have been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, following Saturday’s 11-9 win at No. 7 Virginia.

Wynne (Skyesville, Maryland) tallied five goals in Notre Dame’s ACC-opening victory over the Cavaliers. He scored three times during the 7-0 run to start the game, while his fourth tally of the first half gave Notre Dame an 8-1 lead. His fifth and final goal of the game put the Fighting Irish up 11-6 in the fourth quarter. Wynne leads Notre Dame with 19 goals and he has scored three or more goals in four games this season.

Landis (Pelham, New York) and the Notre Dame defense kept Virginia off the scoreboard for the opening 22:26 of Saturday’s win, while allowing the Irish to storm off to a 7-0 advantage. The junior defenseman helped Notre Dame hold Virginia to a season-low nine goals in the win.

These are the first ACC weekly accolades this season for the Fighting Irish.

No. 3 Notre Dame (4-1) returns to action Saturday with a home tilt against No. 15 Ohio State (6-2). Faceoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. (ET) at Arlotta Stadium and the game can be seen on ESPNU.
