MIAMI LAKES, Fla. – A first-round total of 298 (+10) has the No. 25 Notre Dame women’s golf team in sixth place at the Canes & Cards Classic, which is being played at the par 72, 6,210-yard Don Shula Golf Resort. The Fighting Irish are 14 shots off the pace established by Louisville.
The first round was originally scheduled for an 8:00 a.m. (ET) shotgun start, yet was delayed until 9:30 a.m. because of heavy rain. Monday’s scheduled second round had to be halted roughly half way through due to inclement weather. The remainder of the round will be completed on Tuesday beginning at 7:30 a.m. (ET) and will be followed by the third and final round.
Georgia State is in second place after posting a 293 followed by Tulsa (294) and South Florida (296). The College of Charleston rounds out the top five of the 14-team field with a 297, while the Irish are right behind after firing a 298. Louisville and Miami are serving as co-hosts for the event.

That total matched her top round of the season. Notre Dame junior Lisa Maunu (St. Thomas, Ontario/Parkside Collegiate Institute) is among a logjam at 34th place with a four-over par 76.
Sophomores Kristin Wetzel (Middletown, N.Y./Hilton Head Prep) and Annie Brophy (Spokane, Wash./Gonzaga Prep) fired rounds of 78 and 80, respectively. Wetzel is in a tie at 49th, while Brophy is tied for 61st.
