April 7, 2008

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. – A first-round total of 298 (+10) has the No. 25 Notre Dame women’s golf team in sixth place at the Canes & Cards Classic, which is being played at the par 72, 6,210-yard Don Shula Golf Resort. The Fighting Irish are 14 shots off the pace established by Louisville.

The first round was originally scheduled for an 8:00 a.m. (ET) shotgun start, yet was delayed until 9:30 a.m. because of heavy rain. The remainder of the round will be completed on Tuesday beginning at 7:30 a.m. (ET) and will be followed by the third and final round.

Georgia State is in second place after posting a 293 followed by Tulsa (294) and South Florida (296). The College of Charleston rounds out the top five of the 14-team field with a 297, while the Irish are right behind after firing a 298. Louisville and Miami are serving as co-hosts for the event.
