Fighting Irish Classic Commences Oct. 7-8

Notre Dame hosts lone home tournament at the Warren

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The No. 17 Notre Dame men’s golf team will host its lone home tournament of the season this coming Monday out on the Warren Golf Course. The Fighting Irish Classic will take place Oct. 7-8, and welcomes a strong 14-team field.

Admission and parking is free to all fans. Those who cannot attend can follow the live scoring on Golfstat.com. Updates will also be tweeted out from the men’s golf account, @NDMensGolf.

IN THE CLUBHOUSE

For this tournament, the Warren will play as a 7,023-yard, par-71. The field will play two rounds on Monday starting with an 8:30 a.m. ET shotgun start. The Irish will begin Monday on holes 1-4. Then Tuesday will feature a traditional start off holes one and 10, beginning at 8:00 a.m., based off the standings.

The Notre Dame golf programs are coming off a tremendous summer as the Warren hosted the U.S. Senior Open, becoming the first collegiate course to host the prestigious event.

PARTICIPATING TEAMS

The Irish will compete against No. 3 Arizona State, Boston College, No. 41 Georgia Southern, Iowa, Iowa State, No. 49 Kent State, Michigan, Michigan State, Mississippi State, No. 10 North Carolina, Rutgers, Toledo and Missouri-Kansas City.

IRISH FIVE

No change in the Irish lineup for tournament No. 4 on the year after the Irish won the Badger Invitational and Windon Memorial, then placed third at the Inverness. Hunter Ostrom maintains the top spot for the Irish with the lone average on the squad below 70 at 69.78. Ostrom finished just one stroke back from a share of the individual title in back-to-back tournaments to start the year.

The rest of the individual round averages are as follows: Palmer Jackson (71.22), Davis Chatfield (71.56), Davis Lamb (72.56) and Andrew O’Leary (72.67).
