Ferreira And Snakard Lead Irish In ACC Championship First Round

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. — Senior Jordan Ferreira and junior Alison Snakard paced the Fighting Irish women’s golf team on day one of the 2017 ACC Championship by each carding one-over par 73’s on Thursday afternoon. Both players are tied for 18th.

As a team, Notre Dame shot a 10-over par 298 to sit in a three-way tie for seventh with Boston College and Louisville with two rounds remaining at the Reserve Golf Club Pawleys Island (par 72/6,192 yards).

Duke (284) leads the 12-team field, followed by Miami (285). Florida State (287) North Carolina (287) and Clemson (287) are all tied for third. Duke’s Leona Maguire (68) and North Carolina’s Bryana Nguyen (68) are tied atop the individual leaderboard.

Ferreira was three over through her first four holes of play, but she battled back to play the final 14 holes at a two-under par clip. She birdied the par-4 fifth and the par-4 16th holes.

Snakard, who was making her third team start of the season, turned in her best career round for the Irish with the 73. On the par-4 15th, she got up-and-down from a green-side bunker to kickstart a strong finish that included birdies at the par-4 16th and the par-5 18th. She wrapped up her day with a 25-foot birdie putt on the 18th.

Sophomore Emma Albrecht shot a two-over par 74. She had a steady day that included 14 pars and she sunk a 40-foot birdie putt at the par-4 second.

Sophomore Isabella DiLisio carded a six-over par 78 to round out the scoring for the Irish. She had back-to-back birdies on the seventh and eighth holes.


Next Up

Notre Dame’s second round tee times will begin at 8:50 a.m. on Friday morning and the Irish will be paired with Boston College and Louisville.
