Feeney Named BIG EAST Men's Track Athlete Of The Week

Feb. 5, 2013

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – After turning in a record-setting performance Saturday at the Meyo Invitational, University of Notre Dame men’s track and field standout Patrick Feeney has earned BIG EAST Men’s Track Athlete of the Week honors, the league office announced Tuesday.

Feeney, the reigning two-time BIG EAST indoor champion in the 400m, blazed to the win in the 400m dash at the Meyo Invitational by lowering his own school standard in the event (46.13), a time that ranks first in the BIG EAST and second nationally for the 2012-13 indoor season.

The Indianapolis, Ind., native later ran the final leg of the winning 4x400m relay team (3:09.93).

This season Feeney has won nine of the 12 individual and relay events he has entered, including going a perfect 4-0 in 400m races.

Feeney and the rest of his Irish teammates go for a BIG EAST indoor title next weekend (Feb. 16-17) in Geneva, Ohio.
