NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Fighting Irish senior captain Jake Evans has been named one of 10 finalists for college hockey’s 2017-18 Senior CLASS Award® as announced on Friday afternoon (Feb. 16).

Awarded annually to a men’s ice hockey student-athlete who excels both on and off the ice, a candidate must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

Evans, who currently leads the Irish in points (33) and assists (24), is one of two Big Ten players to be named a finalist (complete list below). He became the 52nd player in program history to reach the 100-career points milestone (37-88-125) earlier this season.

The Toronto, Ontario, native helped the Irish win the regular season Big Ten title in the program’s first year in the league and clinch a spot in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament.

Fan balloting counts for 1/3 of the total with the remaining 2/3 determined by NCAA Division I coaches and national media members. Fans can vote daily here. The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2018 NCAA Men’s Frozen Final Four® in April.
