Erich Braun Named To College Soccer News Team of the Week

Notre Dame, Ind. – Senior Erich Braun (Frankfurt, Germany) has been named to the 11-member College Soccer News National Team of the Week for his two-goal performance in Notre Dame’s 4-0 win over Seton Hall in its BIG EAST opener on Sat., Sept. 7. It was the first win for the Irish over the Pirates since October of 1998.

Braun netted both Irish goals in the second half with his first coming at the 61:10 mark and scored his second just over 10 minutes later. His two scores marked his second two-goal game of the season and the sixth of his career. Braun currently is tied for 10th all-time in goals scored with 29.

Other players named to the team were: Matt Ney (Holy Cross), Chad Severs (Penn State), Roger Levesque (Stanford), Scott Hoch (Furman), Diego Walsh (SMU), Sedrick Chin (Boston University), Matt Ahumada (Duke), Seth Stammier (Maryland), Chris Wingert (St, John’s) and Jim Greco (Drexel).

The Irish, under second-year head coach Bobby Clark, are ranked fifth (its highest ranking in school history) in the National Soccer College Coaches of American NSCAA) and 14th in the Soccer America polls.
