NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Eight University of Notre Dame hockey players were named to the 2015-16 Hockey East All-Academic Team the association announced on Thursday afternoon.

The list of Notre Dame’s honorees included graduating seniors Steven Fogarty (second career Hockey East All-Academic Team honor), Sam Herr and Nick Stasack (second career Hockey East All-Academic Team honor).

Junior goaltender Chad Katunar was named to the team for a third consecutive season, while sophomore goaltender Cal Petersen earned his second career honor.

Freshmen Jack Jenkins, Dylan Malmquist and Andrew Oglevie rounded out Notre Dame’s honorees.

Notre Dame was the only school to place three goaltenders (Stasack, Katunar and Petersen) on the 2015-16 Hockey East All-Academic Team.

To be named to the All-Academic Team, a student-athlete had to achieve a grade point average of 3.0 or better in each of the two academic periods during which he was actively competing.

All told, 115 student-athletes were named to the league’s 2015-16 All-Academic Team.
