Dyer Named BIG EAST Athlete Of The Week

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – University of Notre Dame junior Frank Dyer (Loudonville, N.Y.) has been named the BIG EAST Conference Athlete of the Week in men’s swimming and diving, the league office announced Tuesday.

Dyer was a double-winner for the Fighting Irish in a thrilling 156-144 victory over No. 18 Purdue Nov. 2 at the Rolfs Aquatic Center. The 2012 All-American swam the 200 free in 1:39.14 and the 500 free in 4:33.73 to earn gold in both events. Dyer was also the fly swimmer (21.08 split) for the victorious 200 medley relay team, helping lead Notre Dame to its first dual win over the Boilermakers since 2006.

Dyer has won six individual events during the Fighting Irish’s 3-0 start, claiming gold in the 50, 100, 200 and 500 free events. He has also been a member of two first-place finishing relay squads this season.
