NOTRE DAME, Ind. – University of Notre Dame senior Kate Duman set a new school record in the women’s javelin on March 26 at the Dr. Pepper Invitational Track & Field Meet at Baylor University in Waco, Texas.

Duman, a senior from Scio, Oregon, uncorked a toss of 43.56 meters (142 feet, 11 inches) to win the event. The performance bettered the NCAA qualifying standard, beating the previous school record of 43.07 meters (141-2) set by Duman in 2004 at the Tom Botts Invitational. By virtue of this performance, Duman has qualified for a spot in the NCAA Mid-East Regional Championships to be held in May.
