GREENSBORO, N.C. – After an unblemished doubles record at ITA Kickoff weekend in Lexington, the top Irish duo of Sebastian Dominko and Connor Fu were named ACC Doubles Team of the Week as announced by the league office Tuesday. This is the first time either player has received this nomination in their careers.
In the opening round of the weekend at Kickoff, they made quick work of their opponents from Washington with a dominant 6-1 win. The next day, they continued their strong run of form with a 6-3 win over Kentucky’s team of Alafia Ayeni and Liam Draxl, Draxl being a two-time All-American and former #1 in the country.
Dominko and Fu have had an outstanding start to the year posting an overall 6-1 record all at the top position in the lineup. They boast wins over DePaul, IUPUI, Chicago State and Western Michigan in addition to their two victories last weekend. Their lone loss came on the road to Northwestern during the opening weekend of play but have since won four-straight matches.
