Distance Medley Relay Travels To NCAA Indoor Championships

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Notre Dame men’s distance medley relay squad will represent the Irish track and field team at the NCAA Indoor Championships Friday at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium in College Station, Texas. The relay is set to run at 9:40 p.m. (ET), while the meet begins at 11:00 a.m.

Junior Johnathan Shawel (Placentia, Calif./Troy) leads the distance medley relay, as he is set to run the opening 1,200 meters. He will be followed by freshman Patrick Feeney (Indianapolis, Ind./New Palestine) who will carry the baton for 400 meters. Jack Howard (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville), a 2010 All-American in the 800 meters will run that same distance and sophomore Jeremy Rae (Fort Erie, Ontario/Lakeshore Catholic) serves as the anchor in the final 1,600-meter portion.

The relay team enters the weekend after running 9:31.99 at the Alex Wilson Invitational to qualify for the NCAAs. That time is currently the eighth-fastest in the nation.
