Notre Dame, Ind. — Notre Dame senior defenseman Tory Dello has been named one of three finalists for Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year honors, the conference announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Dello joins Jared Rosburg of Michigan State and Cole Hults of Penn State as finalists.

Dello finished his Irish career with seven goals and 33 assists for 40 points in 154 games played. He was a part of Notre Dame’s Frozen Four appearances in 2017 and 2018 and was a regular on the blue line as Notre Dame made a run to the 2018 national title game.

Dello was also part of three Big Ten Championships, including back-to-back tournament titles in 2018 and 2019.

As a senior, the Crystal Lake, Illinois native skated in all 37 games, scored three goals and added 10 assists for 13 points. He served as an alternate captain and was among the NCAA leaders in blocked shots with 80. He blocked over 270 shots in his Irish career and he also netted a pair of important shootout winners against Michigan State in each of the last two seasons.

Dello will graduate in May as an American Studies major from the College of Arts and Letters.
