Delgado Leads Irish to Third Place Finish

DULUTH, Ga. – The (RV) Notre Dame men’s golf team shot a 289 (+3) on Tuesday to hold onto third place at the AutoTrader Collegiate Classic, hosted by Georgia Southern at the Berkeley Hills Country Club. It marked the third top-five finish for the Irish this fall.

Individually, junior Miguel Delgado notched his lowest career finish with a second-place showing. Delgado shot a 70 (-2) in the final round, thus completing a 54-hole tournament in which he shot under-par for all three rounds.

All-in-all, Delgado carded a 209 (-7), trailing leader Steven Fisk of Georgia Southern by six strokes by tournament’s end.

Stats of the Day
Delgado’s seven-under par marked a career best and tied for the fourth best 54-hole score in program history. In addition, Delgado tallied the second most birdies of the entire field with 15.

Final Round
Notre Dame earned a nine-over par for the tournament, while Georgia State, who came in second, carded a seven-over. Meanwhile, the host team Georgia Southern ran away with the tournament with an 847 (-17).

Davis Chatfield recorded quite the comeback on the back-nine on Tuesday. After shooting four-over par on the front-nine, Chatfield played mistake-free golf on the back, securing four birdies to finish even-par for the day.

Other countable scores for the Irish today belonged to Hunter Ostrom (+1) and Kevin Conners (+2).
