The University of Notre Dame men’s basketball team has finalized its schedule for the 2016-17 season. The lone NCAA Division I men’s basketball program to make the Elite Eight in each of the last two seasons, the Irish will take on a deep and talented conference schedule in addition to some key out-of-conference challenges.

“This will be the most difficult schedule we have faced as a member of the ACC,” Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey said.

“It is the deepest league in the country and every team is capable lof making a run in March. Our guys will need to be ready to face a challenge each time they take the court.”

Notre Dame’s home schedule is highlighted by visits from Iowa, Louisville, Clemson, Syracuse, Virginia, Duke, Wake Forest, Florida State, Georgia Tech and Boston College. Mid-January will be a key stretch for the Irish, as they will play host to Syracuse (Jan. 21), Virginia (Jan. 24) and Duke (Jan. 30) over a nine-day stretch.

There are no easy road trips for the Irish this season. Games away from Purcell Pavilion inlcude stops at Pittsburgh, Miami (Fla.), Virginia Tech, Florida State, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Boston College, NC State and Louisville. The non-conference slate also offers neutral site battles with Colorado, Texas or Northwestern, Purdue and defending National Champion Villanova.

The schedule features 11 teams that earned a spot in last season’s NCAA tournament, two nationally televised games on CBS (vs. Villanova, at Louisville), 12 contests on the ESPN family of networks (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPNews) while every other Irish contest will appear on the ACC Network or ACC Network Extra, save for one contest on ACC Regional Sports Networks.
