Deehan, Choma, and Ahern Named to Initial Tewaaraton Watchlist

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Kasey Choma, Bridget Deehan and Madison Ahern were each named to the initial watch list for the 2022 Tewaaraton Award, the Tewaaraton Foundation announced Thursday night (February 10).

Deehan, a 2021 Tewaaraton Award Nominee, has been named to the watchlist for the third consecutive season.  Choma has been named to the watch list for the second consecutive season.

ABOUT AHERN

Ahern, a 2022 Preseason All-ACC selection and Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American scored 32 goals in the 2021 season with 17 assists. She picked up 13 ground balls, and caused five turnovers. She scored in 16 of 17 games played, including 11 multi-goal outings and four hat tricks. She was named a 2021 Inside Lacrosse Preseason Second Team All-American, and to the 2021 All-ACC Second Team. She racked up a total of four awards throughout her sophomore campaign.

ABOUT CHOMA

A 2022 Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason All-American, Choma racked up 45 goals, and 50 points in her 2021 campaign. She netted a goal in 17 of 18 contests, including a career-best six goals vs. Virginia Tech (April 21), and totaled eight hat tricks, and scored at least five goals in three games. She also accumulated 18 ground balls, and 17 draw controls. Choma picked up nine awards throughout the season including being named 2021 IWLCA Second Team All-American, 2021 Inside Lacrosse Second Team All-American, and 2021 Inside Lacrosse Preseason Third Team All-American.

 

ABOUT DEEHAN

A 2021 IWLCA First Team All-American, Deehan closed the 2021 season leading the conference with a mark of 9.28 saves per game in 2021 and recorded double-digit saves in nine contests. The Milton, Georgia, native named the ACC’s and IWLCA’s Defensive Player of the Week on two occasions this season and was also an Honorable Mention Inside Lacrosse All-American. Deehan finished the 2021 campaign with an ACC-leading and nationally ranked 167 saves, which is the sixth-highest single-season mark in program history. Deehan, who was named U.S. Lacrosse Magazine’s Preseason Goaltender of the Year in 2021, She earned First Team IL All-American accolades in 2020 and was a Preseason IL All-American in 2021.
