Notre Dame, Ind. – Darin Ottaviani, who served as sports promotions assistant at Notre Dame in 2007-08, has been promoted to sports marketing coordinator for the promotions department.

In his new position, Ottaviani will oversee all marketing and promotion aspects for Irish hockey and volleyball program, in addition to spearheading marketing responsibilities for the lacrosse, cross-country, track and field, and tennis teams.

In his role as sports promotions assistant Ottaviani served as the primary marketing contact for the volleyball and softball teams, while assisting with men’s basketball. In May 2008, he coordinated the inaugural post-game fireworks show for Irish baseball.

Prior to joining the Notre Dame staff, Ottaviani spent the 2006-07 school year as an athletic marketing assistant at Bowling Green State University and coordinated the marketing efforts for Falcon volleyball. In 2005-06, he served as an assistant equipment manager at Bowling Green, working primarily with the football, men’s and women’s basketball, and volleyball teams.

A native of Ellwood City, PA., Ottaviani graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.A. in sport management and communications in May 2005. While attending Michigan, he served two years as a student manager for the Wolverine program. As a student, Ottaviani also worked in several different roles within the Michigan Athletic Department, including athletic media relations, sports marketing, and Yost Ice Arena.
