GREENSBORO, NC — After completing just the second 5K of her collegiate career, Notre Dame women’s cross country freshman Jacqueline Gaughan was named Women’s Freshman of the Week as announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference Wednesday, September 19.
In a sea of 203 total participants, Gaughan finished the National Catholic Invitational second overall with a time of 17:27.27, just behind teammate Annie Heffernan. Her second place finish helped secure her team’s near perfect score of 18 points, giving them their 12th-consecutive title at the event.
“Jackie is a hard worker who deserves this recognition,” Assistant Coach Kendra Foley said of the honor. “She shows up everyday dedicated to her goals and that will pay off for her in the long run”
Next up, the Irish complete their home slate of competition as they host the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational Friday, September 28. The first of five races is set to toe off at 1 p.m.
