NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Fighting Irish forward Pierce Crawford and defenseman Matt Hellickson have been named Senior CLASS Award candidates, it was announced on Friday (Feb. 12).
Crawford and Hellickson represent two of 15 candidates nationally, from which a national committee will select 10 finalists for the 2020-21 Senior CLASS Award later in February. Those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot for a nationwide vote. Fan balloting will be coupled with votes from coaches and media to determine the recipient of the award.
The Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their athletic platforms to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
Notre Dame’s previous winners of the Senior CLASS Award include current Montreal Canadiens forward Jake Evans (2017-18) and former goaltender David Brown (2006-07). Last season Cal Burke and Cale Morris were both among the 10 finalists for the award.
