NOTRE DAME, Ind. – University of Notre Dame men’s tennis seniors Eddy Covalschi and Josh Hagar are into the Round of 16 in the doubles main draw at the Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Championships, having won their fourth in a row and continuing in the Irish tradition of strong doubles play on the national level.

The 26th-ranked Covalschi and Hagar, who played into the main draw after breezing through the qualifying bracket, upended 5-8 seed and eighth-ranked Tommy Bennett and David Warren of Rice, 6-4, 6-4. The Irish pair will face New Mexico’s 15th-ranked Hayden Sabatka and Bart Van Leijsen on Friday.

Earlier in the day, Hagar fell to No. 13 Florian Lakat 6-4, 6-2 in the first round of the singles main draw. Hagar also earned his spot in the main draw thanks to a strong show in qualifying.

Play continues at the All-American Championships through Monday, when both singles and doubles championships are slated to take place. Main draw matches are streaming live on FloTennis ($), with live scores updated on streamingtennis.com/Tulsa.
