Covalschi Advances At ITA All-American Championships

ITA All-American Championships Draw

TULSA, Okla. – University of Notre Dame men’s tennis junior Eddy Covalschi provided the highlight of the day for the Irish on the first day of prequalifying play at the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men’s All-American Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center at the University of Tulsa on Saturday.

Covalschi defeated TCU’s Gianni Mancini 6-1, 6-0 in the round of 256 to advance to play on Sunday. Freshman Alex Lebedev fell in a close match to Auburn’s Dante Saleh 6-7(5), 6-2, 7-6(4), while senior Alex Lawson dropped to Texas A&M’s Jordi Arconada, 6-2, 6-3.

Covalschi will face Wake Forest’s Sam Bloom at 11 a.m. ET Sunday in the Round of 128. Lebedev and Lawson will play in consolation matches, as the freshman will play Middle Tennessee’s Ayed Zatar and Lawson will square off with Marquette’s Kris Trukov.
